3. Unloader piston (295) and O-ring (296) so the short
stem of the piston rests on the unloader stop (260).
4. Unloader spring (294) small end first, on the stem
of the unloader piston (295).
5. Copper inlet valve gasket (293).
6. Inlet valve seat (292) with its beveled side visible.,
7. Inlet valve (291).
8. Inlet valve spring (290) on the inlet valve stop
(289).
Tighten
10. Bolts (261).
Q Tighten
• Bolts (261) in an “X” pattern to 23 N.m (17 ft.
lbs.).

-M- Install or Connect
• Inlet valve stop (289), using a spanner wrench,
to 108 N.m (80 ft. lbs.).

DISASSEMBLY
Remove or Disconnect (Figure 28)
1. Governor from the compressor.
IQ i Clean
2. Rubber cover (300).
3. Two pipe plugs from the body,
4. Coyer retaining ring (301).
5. Adjusting screw (308) and spring (304) assembly.
6. Piston (314) assembly.

7. Two piston grommets (309 and 317) from , the
grooves in the piston.
8. Valve spring (316), valve (315), exhaust stem
(310), and exhaust stem spring (311) from the pis
ton.

9. Exhaust stem grommet (313) and washer . (312)
from the bore.
• Mount the adjusting, screw and spring assembly
in a vise with soft jaws.
10. Jam nut (302) from the adjuster screw (308), then'
thread adjuster screw out of the upper spring seat
(303).

11. Adjuster screw spring (304), lower spring seat
' (305), spring guide (306), and second lower spring
seat (307) from the adjuster screw. .
CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Clean
• Metal parts in a suitable cleaning ,solvent and blow
dry. Replace rubber parts from the repair kit.. . .

Inspect (Figure 28)
’ 1. Valve spring (317), exhaust stem spring (311), and
adjuster screw spring (304) for free length, active
coils, or collapsed coils,
2. Governor body (318) for cracks, nicks, burrs,
crossed or stripped threads, or other damage.

3. Adjuster screw (308) for stripped threads.
4. Piston (314) for nicks, burrs, or other damage.^
5. Valve. (315) for deterioration or other damage.
6. Two filters. If damaged, remove and press new
filter in place.
7. Air passages for obstructions.
