Character limits for i-mode mail are as follows.

When mail cannot be received
Mail received at i-mode center is immediately
sent to i-mode terminal. However, mail is held
at the i-mode center when a Videophone call is
in progress, or while the handset is outside the
service area, in Self mode or turned off. Mail
held at the i-mode center is resent up to three
times. Use Receive option setting to select and
receive i-mode mail at i-mode center.

Note
Message text is limited to 10,000 single-byte
(5,000 double-byte) characters but may be less
depending on size of attachments.
When limit is exceeded, “/” or “//” is inserted at
the end of the message and the exceeding
portion is automatically deleted.
The character limit for message text when
sending i-mode mail to mova service is 2,000
double-byte characters. i-shot and i-motion mail
is sent as mail with a URL. All other
attachments are deleted.
Characters exceeding the limit in subject are
automatically deleted.
Avoid using single-byte katakana and
pictographs when sending to mobile phones
not supporting i-mode (including mova).
Characters may not be properly displayed
when received.
Note
Number and duration of time mail held at
i-mode center is as follows.
Mail is automatically deleted after the storage
period expires.
Maximum number of mail held differs according
to data size. If i-mode center is full, the
message is rejected and an error message is
sent to the sender.
