LPR Printing Setting
Settings made on the controller side
It is necessary that an IP address be assigned to the controller.
Settings made on the PC side
❍
For Windows NT 4.0
•
Install the Microsoft TCP/IP print service.
• Open Control Panel and double-click the network icon.
• On the network setting screen, select the “Services” tab and click the “Add...” button.
• Select “Microsoft TCP/IP Printing” and click “OK.”
•
Display the printer property.
•
Select the “Ports” tab and click “Add Port...” The “Printer Ports” dialog box will then
appear.
•
From the “Available Printer Ports:” list, select “LPR Port” and then click “New Ports...”
•
On the “Add LPR Compatible Printer” dialog box, type the IP address of the controller
in the “Name or address of server providing lpd” field.
•
Type “print” in the “Name of printer or print queue on that server” field.
•
Then, carry out the test print.
•
Click the “Close” button to exit.

For Windows 2000 and XP
•
Display the printer property.
•
Select the “Ports” tab and click “Add Port...” The “Printer Ports” dialog box will then
appear.
•
From the “Available Port Types:” list, select “Standard TCP/IP Port” and then click
“New Port...”
•
Type the IP address of the printer in the “Name of printer or IP address” field.
•
Select “Custom” and click “Setting.”
•
Select “LPR.”
•
Type “print” in the “Queue Name” field and click “OK.”
•
Click “Next” and then “Finish” to exit from the dialog box.
Peer-to-Peer Printing
When you want to print directly to a network printer from Windows 98/Me without going
through the server, install PageScope Network Setup from the PageScope CD (for admin-
istrators), and configure the Peer-to-Peer print setup.
See “5 Peer-to-Peer Print Setup” in the PageScope Network Setup User Manual for
details.
IPP Printing Setting
Settings made on the controller side
If IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) is used, make the following settings on PageScope
Light. Printing is possible with the default settings.
•
Log into the Administrator mode.
•
Select [Network set] - [Common Setting] - [IPP].
•
Settings that can be made are enabling IPP (Enabled, Disabled), Accept IPP Jobs
(Enabled, Disabled), and Operation Supported (Print Job, Validate Job, Cancel Job,
Get Job Attributes, Get Jobs, Get Printer Attributes).
Further, make settings for IPP print.
Select “Print” - “IPP.”
•
The printer name, printer location, and printer manufacture and Model can be set.
Settings made on the PC side
•
Start the “Add Printer Wizard” and select “Network printer.”
•
On the “Locate Your Printer” screen, select “Connect to a printer on the Internet or
your intranet.”
•
Type http://
Controller_IP_Address
/ipp in the “URL” field.
•
On the screen for selecting the manufacturer and model of the printer, click “Have
Disk...”
•
Click the “Browse...” button, select the corresponding folder in the CD-ROM, and then
click the “OK” button.
• Select
the printer you want to use
from the printer list. Then, click “Next.”
•
Click the “Finish” button to exit from the “Add Printer Wizard”.
•
Change the default printer setting and printer name as necessary. Then, carry out the
test print.
