Prop ellers
Y our outboard engines are eq uipped with propellers of a
tested size and design to provide best engine and boat
performance . Refer to the engine operator’ s manual
for detailed information about propeller designs and the
co rrect propeller select ion method.
Never use a p rop eller that allows the engine to
op erate outside of its recommended RPM range
at full throttle. Ex tensive engine damage can
occur.
Y ou should always ca rry a spare propeller, propeller
installation hardware, and propeller wrench on-board.
Y ou should replace a propeller anytime it beco mes
damaged to avoid co llateral damage to the engine’ s
gearca se.
T o p revent the engine from starting accidentally,
turn the correct engine b attery O F F - O N switch to
the O F F p osition b efore changing a p rop eller.
In some situations, you may want to ch ange the
propellers to give the boat slightly different performance
characteristics. Changes to the boat’s configuration,
such as additional eq uipment or adding bottom paint,
ca n affect the type and size of propeller req uired.
