General Guidelines
Also follow these imp ortant guidelines during fueling
op erations:
T his fuel system is not designed to sup p ort an
automatic “h ands free” fuel nozzle. Never use
an automatic uel no le to ll this tank and never
leave a fueling p rocess unattended.
S hut down outboard engines, generators, motors,
and fans before fueling. All possible source s of
ignition must be OF F before you begin taki ng on
gasoline.
Close all ports, windows, doors, hatch es, and
co mpartments.
E xtinguish ci garettes, pipes, stoves, and all other
ame producing devices.
M ake sure all power is OF F . D o not operate any
elect rica l switch es.
Never tak e on gasoline at night, exce pt in well-lighted
areas.
Insert fuel nozzl
e and make sure nozzl
e is in
contact with or grounded against fill pipe before you
pump gasoline. This co ntact must be co ntinuously
maintained until gasoline ow has stopped.
Never e ceed a fill rate of GPM ( lpm). Slow the
fill rate to GPM ( lpm) for the final of tank.
D N T fill the tank completely. Allow a minimum of
2 % of tank volume for temperature-related expansion.
Allow for
e pansion if the temperature of the
gasoline take n on-board is 3 2 ° F ( 0 ° C) or lower.
Tighten the deck fill cap completely after fueling.
Wipe up any spillage co mpletely and dispose of rags
or waste on-shore following all state and federal
regulations.
Run the bilge blower for at least four minutes before
energizi ng any other 1 2 V D C elec trica l ci rcu its or
starting the outboard engines.
V entilate the general area to eliminate any signs of
gasoline vapor.
