The following fields may be displayed in the Appliance Serial Ports window. Use the Customize
link to add or remove fields in the display. See
Using the Customize link in windows
on page 12.
•
Type - Displays the port type (CLI, SPC or Standard)
•
Baud - Displays the baud rate of the serial port
•
Data Bit - Describes the data bit rate of the serial port
To change the general settings for a CCM or CPS appliance physical serial port:
1.
In a Units View window containing appliances (see
Accessing Units View windows
on
page 88), click on the CCM or CPS appliance name.
2.
Click
Appliance Settings
in the side navigation bar and then click
Ports
and then click
Serial
.
The Appliance Serial Ports window will open.
3.
Click on the name of a serial port. The Appliance Serial Port General Settings window
will open.
4.
Change the settings as needed:
•
If you change the appliance name and the automatic name pull feature is enabled, see
Automatic name pull
on page 106 for the effect.
•
Port type:
•
Standard - For accessing a connected serial device using Telnet or SSH.
•
(CPS appliances only) Standard Command Line Interface (CLI) - For a serial
connection for a local terminal. Only one port may be defined as a CLI port. If a
second port is defined as a CLI port, the previously defined CLI port will be changed
to a standard port.
•
Time-out that specifies the number of idle minutes the CCM appliance will wait before
dropping a connection to the port.
•
CLI access character used to access CLI mode on a serial device. The (^) character
represents the
Ctrl
key. For example, specifying ^D means that pressing
Ctrl+D
will enter
CLI mode.
•
Telnet port that will be used to access the serial port. The default is 3001.
•
Whether the port should use a DTR signal. If set to DTR, the appliance will report target
devices as ON if the signal given matches the state given. Otherwise, the appliance will
report the target device power as OFF.
•
Power signal type to be used for power status monitoring of the port.
5.
Click
Save
and then click
Close
. The Appliances Serial Ports window will open.
6.
Click
Close
. The Units View window will open.
To change the communication settings for a CCM or CPS appliance physical serial
port:
1.
In a Units View window containing appliances (see

page 88), click on the CCM or CPS appliance name.
