Description
What type of system do you want
to configure
When the high availability/load balancing (HA/LB) feature is licensed and
enabled, you can select from the following system types:
■
Standalone gateway
If selected, the appliance is configured as a standalone security gateway.
This is the default selection.
■
Cluster member
If selected, the appliance is configured as a cluster member.
As a cluster member, the System Setup Wizard options to create rules for
SMTP and POP3 mail services, and HTTP and FTP services are not
available. These configurations are performed on a single cluster
member and propagated to the other members of the cluster.
Note that you must make the same change on all the cluster member
appliances. After you make the changes, use the Tools > Cluster > Update
Interfaces option to update the cluster.
If HA/LB is not enabled, these options are not accessible. By default, the
security gateway is configured as a standalone gateway.
Restore from a backup image
Lets you restore a backup image to the security gateway.
This option is unchecked by default.
You can restore a backup from the following security gateways:
■
The current security gateway,
■
Another Symantec Gateway Security 5000 Series v3.0 security gateway
■
Symantec Gateway Security v2.0 s
■
Symantec Clientless VPN Gateway v5.0
If you check this option, you must select one of the following options that
specify how network interfaces data is treated during the restore process.
■
Restore backup configuration’s network interfaces data
If you choose to restore, this option restores the network interface data
of the backup configuration.
This option is selected by default.
■
Merge backup configuration’s network interfaces data
If you are restoring a backup from another security gateway and want to
use its network interface data, use this option.
It maps interface definitions (logical names, subnets, and physical
names) from the backup file to the interface definitions on the security
gateway to which you are restoring.
When a backup interface definition cannot be mapped to a current
interface definition, the backup definition is assigned to an unused
interface.
■
Use current network interfaces data
If you are restoring a backup from another security gateway but want to
maintain the network settings that are currently configured on the
security gateway, check this option.
You may encounter validation errors if logical interface names that are
referenced by the backup configuration are not defined. Use the
Validation report that is generated to correct these errors by defining
missing logical interfaces and corresponding network interfaces.
