Proxy Properties: NNTP—General tab
The NNTP proxy modifies the behavior of the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP), which controls
traffic to and from news servers.
Some protections you can configure through the NNTP proxy are:

Limiting internal user access to newsgroups
■
Controlling news feeds from external news servers
■
Authenticating external users who attempt to access internal news servers
The General tab lets you enable the NNTP proxy, and give it a brief description.

The Cache tab lets you control the size of a connection’s news article cache.

This option is checked by default.
Caption An optional, brief description of the NNTP proxy.
The maximum length is 128 characters.

Field Description
Cache increment (bytes) Number of bytes by which a connection’s news article cache is increased each time a
news article is too large for the cache.
The default is 4096 bytes (4 KB).
The maximum is 9999999999.
Cache maximum (bytes) Maximum size, in bytes, that a connection’s news article cache can reach.
You can increase this value if the files you are transferring contain large graphic
images.
The default is 65536 bytes (64 KB).
The maximum cache size is 9999999999.
