Antivirus
The security gateway lets you configure antivirus scanning and filtering policies. The security gateway
antivirus scanner detects viruses, worms, and Trojan horses in all major file types. The security
gateway also includes a decomposer that handles most compressed and archive file formats and nested
levels of files.
Antivirus—Configuration tab
The security gateway lets you configure antivirus scanning and filtering policies. You can perform
antivirus scanning on any traffic using the FTP, HTTP, POP3, and SMTP protocols. Some scanning and
filtering policy features differ depending on the protocol that you are using.

Field Description
Maximum time (in seconds) Indicates whether this option is enabled and displays the maximum time that
the security gateway can spend extracting a single container file.
Use any number from 1 to 2147483647. Do not use commas in the value.
This option is checked by default.
The default setting is 180 seconds (3 minutes).
Maximum file count Indicates whether this option is enabled and displays the maximum number of
files in a container file to extract.
Use any number from 1 to 2147483647. Do not insert commas in the value.
This option is unchecked by default.
The default value is 100 files.
Maximum size (in MB) Indicates whether this option is enabled and displays the maximum file size, in
bytes, for individual files in a container file.
Use any number from 1 to 2147483647. Do not insert commas in the value.
This option is checked by default.
The default value is 100 MB.
Max cumulative size (in MB) Indicates whether this option is enabled and displays the maximum size of the
entire file (including all container files).
Use any number from 1 to 2147483647. Do not insert commas in the value.
This option is checked by default.
The default value is 500 MB.
