Adding or removing a cluster member
You can add or remove cluster members without using the Cluster Wizard. You must connect the SGMI
computer to a cluster member. When you remove a cluster member, you cannot remove the cluster
member you are logged on to. If there are only two cluster members, removing one of the members
dissolves the cluster. The panels that you see when you use the Modify Cluster option are identical to
the panels that you saw in the Cluster Wizard.
Modify cluster membership
When a member is added or removed from a cluster, the cluster is rebooted and traffic is interrupted.
Prepare for this interruption when planning to modify cluster membership.
Prerequisites
None.
To add a cluster member

In the SGMI, on the Tool menu, click
Cluster > Modify Cluster
.

In the Add/Remove Cluster Members panel, to add a new cluster, click
Add another security
gateway to this cluster
.

Next

In the Add Cluster Member panel, in the IP address text box, type the new IP address.

In the Connect to New Cluster Member panel, do the following:

In the User name text box, type the user name.

In the Password text box, type the administrator password.

In the Add/Remove Cluster Members panel, click
Finished modifying the cluster

In the Confirmation panel, review your configuration changes, and then click
Finish
.

When the configuration changes are complete, a message box tells you that you should reboot all
cluster members. To clear the message and reboot, click
OK
.
To remove a cluster member

In the SGMI, on the Tools menu, click
Cluster > Modify Cluster
.

In the Add/Remove Cluster Members panel, to remove a cluster member, select it in the Cluster
members list, and then click
Remove the selected cluster member
.

In the Remove Cluster Member panel, select one of the following:

In the Connect to Host panel, do the following:
Yes, remove this member from the cluster
Click to remove the selected cluster.
No, don’t remove this member from the cluster
Click to return to the previous menu.
User name
Type the user name of the cluster administrator.
Password
Type the administrator password.
