Host Network Entity Properties—General tab
A host network entity defines a single host, located either inside or outside of the security gateway.
These hosts frequently have specialized uses in your network, such as mail servers and Web servers.

Host Network Entity Properties—Spoof Protection tab
Use the Spoof Protection tab to tighten security by applying spoof protection to the host network
entity.
When you add spoof protection to a network entity, you associate network interfaces with the network
entity. The security gateway inspects traffic coming from or destined for the network entity to ensure
that it is arriving through one of these associated network interfaces. The security gateway drops
packets that do not arrive by an interface that is associated with the network entity.
Note:
For spoof protection to take effect, it must be enabled on the network interface.

Field Description
Entity name A unique name for the host network entity.
The maximum length is 256 characters.
Allowed characters are a-z, A-Z, numerals, periods (.), dashes (-), and underscores (_).
Do not include spaces in the name. The characters @,!,#,$,%,^,&,*,<,> and other reserved
characters are also invalid.
Network address IP address or fully qualified domain name of the host.
IP addresses must be in dotted quad format and between 7 and 15 characters long. Allowed
characters are numerals and periods.
Domain names cannot include spaces. The characters -, _, @,!,#,$,%,^,&,*,<,> and other
reserved characters are also invalid.
MAC address MAC address of the host.
The MAC address associates the IP address with a specific network adapter for added
security.
Specify the address as six pairs of numbers and/or letters, separated by colons. For example:
07:00:69:01:02:AB
The first part of the address represents the company that produced the network adapter,
and the rest of the address is unique to a single device manufactured by the company.
Caption An optional brief description of the host network entity.
The maximum length is 128 characters.
