High availability and load balancing using clusters
Backing up and restoring cluster configurations

You can use the backup and restore facility to share a cluster configuration in the following scenarios:

■

Validating backed up cluster configurations that use VIPs

■

Restoring a cluster configuration to the same cluster

■

Restoring a standalone configuration to a cluster environment

■

Restoring a cluster configuration to a standalone environment

■

Migrating a demo cluster configuration to a production network

■

Migrating a cluster configuration from a two member to three member cluster

Prerequisites

None.

To restore a cluster configuration

You can restore a cluster by using one of the following:

■

System Setup Wizard

■

File menu > Restore.

Follow the wizard until you get to the following three panels:

■

Setup Option Panel

■

Restore Settings Panel

■

Restore Cluster Options

On the Setup Options panel, under What type of system do you want to configure, click

Cluster

member

If you are using the System Setup Wizard, to restore from a backup image, check

Restore from a

backup image

This option is not available if you use the Restore Wizard.

Select one of the following:

■

Restore backup configuration’s network interfaces data

■

Merge backup configuration’s network interfaces data

■

Use current network interfaces data

Click

Next

On the Restore Settings panel, do the following:

■

Check

Restore from a Symantec Gateway Security backup image

, and then browse to where

you have saved your backup file.

■

In the Password text box, type the administrator’s password.

■

Optionally, to restore administrator accounts, check

Restore administrator accounts

Click

Next

On the Restore Cluster Options panel, select the parts of the backed-up cluster configuration that
you want to restore:

■

Restore Cluster VIPs

■

Restore Process Monitors

■

Restore Failover Timeout

■

Restore Traffic Groups

■

Restore Ping Groups

Click

Next

, and then continue the wizard until it is completed.
