DNS Name Server Record Properties—Aliases tab
Use the Aliases tab to assign an alias, or short name, to a name server to be used in DNS lookups.
Aliases are only resolvable for access requests originating from the security gateway itself.

DNS Name Server Record Properties—General tab
Field Description
Enable Indicates whether this option is enabled.
This option is checked by default.
Server name A unique name for the DNS name server record.
The maximum length is 256 characters.
Allowed characters are a-z, A-Z, numerals, periods (.), and dashes (-).
Do not include spaces in the name. The characters @,!,#,$,%,^,&,*,<,>, _ and other reserved
characters are also invalid.
Accessibility The drop-down list includes the following:

Private
Applies the name server record to the inside interface.
■
Public
Applies the name server record to the outside interface.
Private is the default.
IP address The IP address of the name server.
Caption An optional, brief description of the DNS name server record.
The maximum length is 128 characters.
For longer descriptions, use the Description tab.

Field Description
Alias Name format can be dotted quad, or in a format such as: host.symantecs.org, or
www.symantecs.org.
The maximum length is 256 characters.
Allowed characters are a-z, A-Z, numerals, periods (.), dashes (-), and
underscores (_).
Do not include spaces in the name. The characters @,!,#,$,%,^,&,*,<,> and
other reserved characters are also invalid.
