19.3 Changing high-pressure filter

Changing oil

A suitable container is available for escaping oil.
„ Turn out the oil dipstick (1).
„
Unscrew the drain plug (2) and drain the oil.
„
Mount the drain plug (2), tightening torque refer to page 265 .
„ Top up new oil via filling hole.
„
Check oil level.
19.3 Changing high-pressure filter

The high-pressure filter absorbs depositions of solid particles coming from the hydraulic system.
Damage to the components of the circuit is avoided by filtering the hydraulic circuit. The high-
pressure filter is equipped with a contamination indicator (6) which informs visually about the
soiling degree of the high-pressure filter:
• Green: Low degree of soiling. The high-pressure filter works properly.
• Red: High degree of soiling. The filter element of the high-pressure filter must be replaced.
When starting a working function in cold condition the contamination indicator (6) can hop out.
Once the operating temperature has been reached, push back the contamination indicator (6). If
the contamination indicator (6) hops out again, the filter element must be changed.
The high-pressure filter (7) of the on-board hydraulic system is located in front of the twine box
on the left side of the machine.
The high-pressure filter (8) of the work hydraulics is located in the front area of the drawbar.
Replacing the filter element

Observe the safety routine “Safely performing oil level check, oil change and filter element
change”,
refer to page 27 .

Depressurise the hydraulic system.
„
Unscrew the bottom part of the filter (5) from the top part of the filter (1).
„ Remove the filter element (4).
„
Inspect the filter bottom part (5) of the filter top part (1) for damage. Clean and moisten it
with service oil.
„
Moisten the new filter element (4) with identical properties and push it onto the coupling lug
(3).
„ Check the O-ring seal (2) and, if necessary, replace it by a new one with identical properties.
„
Moisten the O-ring seal (2) with service oil.
