6.6 Output of Measured Values via Serial Interface
no >YES<
Serial Output
O10
The output of measured values may also be re-
alised ONLINE via serial interface. The Storage
Interval must be set when
YES
was selected.
(See
chapter 6.7)
FLUXUS transfers the measured data via serial interface with the same
protocol structure as described for the storage of measured data in
internal data logger. (See chapter 6.5)
To ensure easy import by PC programs (e.g. EXCEL), the format of the data transmitted
via the serial interface (Online and Offline) has the following structure:
•
The measured data will always be output in table form. This means, that all measured
values of different quantities belonging to a sample interval will be output in one line.
For each quantity of measurement a column exists (e.g. flow value, forward total,
temperature T1). The columns are separated by a semicolon (;) or a tabulator
character (ASCII #9).
•
Each data set being transmitted contains at the beginning of the text a line with the
respective quantities of measurement starting with the characters ‘\*’.
Set-up of the format for the serial output
The format of the serial output can be adjusted depending on whether the data are being
sent to a PC or transmitted to a serial printer.
In program branch SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, you may adjust the settings of the serial
output
(see chapter 7.7.7)
.
Additionally by using HotCode definition, you can adjust the format and make it cold-start
resistant.
(See also chapter 2.4.4)

Immediately after pushing the BRK key, enter
this key sequence from the MAIN MENU.
Through the following displays the appropriate
format set-ups can be chosen.
TARGET: PC-Import
TARGET: External
printer
>OFF< on
SER:kill spaces
>ON<: All additional space character for output
formatting will be omitted (line without spaces)
>ON< is recommended,
space characters will not be
transmitted during the export of
numerical values. This way,
the file size can be
considerably reduced (i.e.
shorter transmission time).
>OFF< is recommended as all
measured values of a column
will be printed one below the
other.
'.' >','<
SER:decimalpoint
To set the decimal point of a floating point
variable as point or comma.
The recommended set-up de-
pends on the requirements of
the PC program (keyword:
‘separator for thousand’).
The set-up is of a country-
specific nature.
';' >'TAB'<
SER:col-separat.
Columns separated by semicolon or tabulator
The recommended set-up de-
pends on the requirements of
the PC program. Generally,
both separators can be used.
>TAB< increases the total
width of a line depending on
how the tabulator is set on the
printer.
