material to be measured. You will find in
the scroll menu all the materials which can
be selected in the display group for flow
measurement (also 'Other Material').

selected material as a suggestion. You
may correct the sound velocity.
Note:
•
The sound velocity influences the measuring result in an approximately linear
fashion. Thus, the input of a sound velocity 10 % higher than the actual one
gives a wall thickness approximately 10 % too high. The sound velocities pre-
programmed in FLUXUS serve as orientation values. The actual sound velocity
depends on the composition, temperature and the manufacturing process of the
material.
•
If the entered or suggested value for the sound velocity of a material = 0.0 m/s,
FLUXUS will not have a value to work with. The measurement will only start if a
c-LONGITUDINAL other than zero is input.
•
When you go through program branch PARAMETER for the first time after the
operational mode has changed to WTM, the pipe material, selected during the
clamp-on flow measurement, will appear in the selection list.
12.4.2 Parameter Input for the Determination of the
Sound Velocity
Here, you need to input the wall thickness of the material for its sound velocity to
be measured.

Enter the wall thickness of the test piece in
a range of 1.2 mm to 600 mm in program
branch PARAMETER.
Note:
The entered thickness influences the measuring result in a linear manner. The input
of a 10 % greater thickness will give an approximately 10 % higher sound velocity.
12.5 WTM Program Branch MEASURING
The program branch MEASURING will be modified by FLUXUS as soon as the
operational mode is changed to wall thickness measurement (WTM).
