4. Inspection and servicing of each part

4-1-9 Main fuel ﬁlter

(T218341-115-0E)

(1) Replacement procedure

Due to risk of ﬁre, never smoke, use a cigarette lighter, or use any other ignition source while
replacing the main fuel ﬁlter.
Always shut oﬀ the engine as well.

Do not replace the main fuel ﬁlter immediately after stopping operation. The main fuel ﬁlter is

hot enough to cause burns, so perform work after the temperature has been allowed to drop.

・

Be careful not to spill any fuel. If fuel is spilled, thoroughly wipe it up.

1) Use a wrench to remove the cartridge.
2) Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the gasket groove in the

cartridge before installing it. When installing the cartridge, turn
the cartridge further through 2/3 of a turn or tighten it to the

speciﬁed torque after the gasket comes into contact with sealing

surface.

3) Bleed the fuel system of air. See "4-1-8 (4) Bleeding the system

of air".

4) Start up the engine and inspect for any fuel leakage.

Make sure there is no fuel leaking around the main fuel ﬁlter. Leaking fuel could cause a ﬁre.

NOTE

Be sure to dispose of the cartridge in accordance with local laws and regulation where the machine is used. If it
cannot be disposed of properly on your own, consult a service provider for the engine manufacturer.

・

Do not reuse the cartridge.

・

Only replace the cartridge with new genuine parts from KATO. Also, do not use the cartridge

beyond the speciﬁed replacement interval. Doing so could cause the fuel infection system to

malfunction.

・

When replacing the cartridge, be careful not to let any foreign matter enter the fuel system.
