Hot Spare
The Hot Spare parameters specify whether the ISX 5312/5314 automatically switches to
the spare T-1 line in the event of a failure on the primary T-1 line, or from the spare line
to the primary line when the primary line is in a good state and the Revertive Mode
parameter is enabled for a user-specified amount of time. These parameters appear only
for units equipped with two T-1 line interfaces.
Before you can enable the Hot Spare feature, the ISX 5312/5314 must be configured as
follows:
• DS1a is the primary line and DS1b is the spare line. Therefore, there must be no
connections on DS1b.
• The APC feature must be disabled.
To enable the Hot Spare feature, follow these steps, starting from the Configure DSU
submenu:
