Remote T7 Via a DS0 Channel
The Channel parameters allow you to select one DS0 channel per T-1 line interface for
transporting T7 data. When a DS0 channel is assigned for remote T7, it cannot be used
for customer data. You may use the other methods of providing remote T7 (via dial
modems and/or via the DTE ports) in conjunction with this feature with the following
restrictions:
• At a remote ISX 5312/5314, only one method of providing remote T7 should be
enabled at a time because if one source goes down, all T7 to the unit is lost until
that source becomes operable again.
• At a central ISX 5312/5314, multiple methods of providing remote T7 may be
enabled at the same time. However, if one source goes down, all T7 traffic from
the remotes may be lost.
To assign a DS0 channel for remote T7, follow these steps, starting from the NMS
Configuration submenu:
1. Press the button beneath
Chanl
. This submenu is available only for T7 network
management. (If you have SLIP, PPP, or Ethernet enabled, the screen displays
the message:
Invalid: SLIP/PPP active
. Press any button to return the display
back to the current menu selection.)

2. Press the button beneath the DS1 line to which you want to assign a DS0 channel
for remote T7.
