T7 Mode
This T7 Mode parameter specifies the mode used to transport T7 data when the remote
unit's T7 channel is enabled. Two options are available:
•
Nx8K
(N x 8 Kbps) - This option is valid only when Clear Channel 64 Kbps
services are used and the Rate parameter in the Ports submenu is set for N x 56.
B8ZS line data encoding must be enabled. For remote access, CMS data is trans-
ported inband via bit-stealing, providing 8 Kbps of bandwidth for the secondary
channel and 56 Kbps for customer data. Therefore, the actual bandwidth available
will be N x 56, where N = the number of DS0s associated with a connection.
Example: Five DS0s are assigned to a DTE port with the Rate parameter set to
N x 56 and the T7 mode parameter set to N x 8 Kbps.
Data 5 x 56 Kbps = 280 Kbps (user's data bandwidth)
T7 5 x 8 Kbps = 40 Kbps (unassigned bandwidth)
Total user's bandwidth in N x 8 Kbps T7 mode at 56 Kbps data rate for 5 DS0s
equals 280 Kbps.
Note:
The N x 8 Kbps option is NOT valid if the rate parameter is set for N x 64.
•
8K
(8 Kbps only) - This option is valid when the Rate parameter is set for N x 64
or N x 56. The 8 Kbps of bandwidth for secondary channel communications is
taken from the last DS0 assigned, leaving the remainder of that DS0's bandwidth
for the user's data. At 64 Kbps data rate, the user's data bandwidth is 56 Kbps
(64 Kbps minus 8 Kbps for T7). At 56 Kbps data rate, the user's data bandwidth is
48 Kbps (56 Kbps minus 8 Kbps for T7).
Example: Five DS0s are assigned to a DTE port with the Rate parameter set to
N x 64 and the T7 mode parameter set to 8 Kbps only.
Data 5 x 64 Kbps = 320 Kbps (total data bandwidth)
T7 1 x 8 Kbps = - 8 Kbps (taken from the last DS0
assigned)
312 Kbps (user's data bandwidth)
Total user's bandwidth in 8 Kbps only T7 mode at 64 Kbps data rate for 5 DS0s
equals 312 Kbps.
Example: Five DS0s are assigned to a DTE port with the Rate parameter set to
N x 56 and the T7 mode parameter set to 8 Kbps only.
Data 5 x 56 Kbps = 280 Kbps (total data bandwidth)
T7 1 x 8 Kbps = - 8 Kbps (taken from the last DS0
assigned)
272 Kbps (user's data bandwidth)
Total user's bandwidth in 8 Kbps only T7 mode at 56 Kbps data rate for 5 DS0s
equals 272 Kbps.
