To scroll through the options for the LRC alarm, you must first press the 

>

button.  The Dial Backup Mode parameter must be enabled before you can
enable the LRC alarm.  If this parameter is disabled, the screen displays the
message:  

DTE2 BckUp Mode Disabled

.  Press any button to restore the display

back to the current menu selection.

When the desired options are displayed, press the 

Escape

 button to return to the

DTE 2 Backup Parameters submenu.

When enabled, the LRC alarm sets various parameters required for the central
ISX 5312/5314 unit to send a heartbeat message, via a portion of the remote T7
bandwidth, to the remote ISX 5312/5314 unit(s).  If the Remote T7 parameter is enabled,
the user-selected mode (N x 8 Kbps, 8 Kbps, or DS0) is used to transport the heartbeat
signal.  If the Remote T7 parameter is disabled, the heartbeat signal is sent using the 8
Kbps mode.  This mode can be changed by the user to N x 8 Kbps or DS0.  Because only
one DS0 for remote T7 is permitted per DS1 line, the DS0 rate can be selected for only
one of the two DTE backups.  For example, if the DS0 rate is selected for DTE 2, only
the 8 Kbps or the N x 8 Kbps rates can be selected for DTE 4.  When you enable or
disable the LRC alarm, the following event messages may appear on the screen.  They
do not appear when Remote T7 is enabled.

•

8k RemT7 enabled on DTE1

 - appears when Remote T7 is disabled, DBU is

enabled, and you change the LRC setting from disabled to enabled.  The LRC
alarm trigger condition is enabled and is using a portion of the remote T7
bandwidth.

•

8k RemT7 disable on DTE1

 - appears when Remote T7 is disabled, DBU is

enabled, the T7 Mode parameter is set to 8K, and you change the LRC setting
from enabled to disabled.  The LRC alarm trigger condition is disabled, and the
remote T7 bandwidth is given back to the user.
