Excalibur ISX 5312/5314 T-1 Multiplexer Installation and Operation

Local Channel Loop

The Local Channel Loop test loops user-selectable single or contiguous DS0 channels on
the selected DS1 line towards the network.  This test is bidirectional for channels that are
cross-connected to another T-1 line.  It is not bidirectional for channels assigned to a
DTE.  This test is only available for units equipped with two T-1 line interfaces.

Bundle Loop

The Bundle Loop test bidirectionally loops all the DS0 channels that are cross-connected
between two T-1 lines.  This test is only available for units equipped with two T-1 line
interfaces.

Telco Loops

The Line Loopback and Payload Loopback are loops initiated by the network.  The
methods of starting and stopping the loopback conditions are defined in AT&T 54016
and ANSI T1.403, as described in the "Network Loops" section in Chapter 4.

Line Loopback

The Line Loopback loops receive data input from the line to the transmit data output
toward the network.  Receive data passes on to the TDM bus, but the DTE control and
data leads are forced to an inactive state.  (See Figure 6-7.)  Remote T7 communication
is lost during this test.
