Excalibur ISX 5312/5314 T-1 Multiplexer Installation and Operation
4-44
DS0
The DS0 parameter specifies the number of T-1 line DS0 channels used by the port. A
maximum of 24 DS0s are available on each line. You can assign all DTEs to the same
T-1 line and divide the DS0 channels between them in any combination you desire. You
can also assign any combination of DTEs to each T-1 line. For example, you can assign
DTE 1, DTE 2, and DTE 3 to line A, and DTE 4 to line B. You cannot assign a DTE to
more than one T-1 line. The available options are
01
through
24
. This parameter must
be set before the DS0 channel assignments in the Connection submenu can be defined.
Rate
The Rate parameter specifies the bandwidth per DS0 assigned to a connection. The
available options are
56K
(N x 56 Kbps) and
64K
(N x 64 Kbps).
Remote T7
The Remote T7 parameter specifies whether the unit's DTE T7 channel is enabled. The
available options are
Dsabl
and
Enabl
. One T7 channel is available for each DTE port.
The local ISX 5312 can access up to two remote sites as shown in Figure 4-5. The local
ISX 5314 can access up to four remote sites. You can also transport T7 data via dial
modems and a PSTN line and/or via a DS0 channel as previously described in the “T7
Via Dial Modems” and “Remote T7 Via a DS0 Channel” sections in this chapter. This
parameter is available only for T7 network management. If you have SLIP, PPP, or
Ethernet enabled, instead of displaying the options for this parameter, the screen displays
the message:
Invalid: SLIP/PPP active
.
Notes:
Be sure that you have set the T7 Mode parameter in this submenu before
enabling the Remote T7 parameter. (Refer to the "T7 Mode" section in this chapter for
instructions.)
If units are connected in a point-to-point configuration, T7 should only be enabled on
one DTE.
