The instructions for initiating a Pattern Test on a T-1 line are identical to those given for
initiating a DTE Pattern Test in the previous section, "DTE Tests."

RTN Function

The RTN (Return to Normal) function allows you to clear alarms and any tests in
progress, and allows you to turn off the

Testing Alarm Relays (Central Site Model Only)

The central site Excalibur ISX 5314 transition board has a connector, labeled 

Relay

, that

enables you to connect to an external alarm indication device.  Two relay contacts are
provided.  The relay contacts are activated through commands received from the CMS
400 network management system.

You can use the ISX 5314 front panel to force the relay contacts on to verify that they
are functioning properly.  To do so, follow these steps:
