Connecting to NMI Port for Front Panel Controller or Console Port
Applications

The

NMI

connector can be used to connect to any serial port on a PC for use with the

Front Panel Controller Application for Windows or the software download package. It
can also be used to connect to a VT100-compatible ASCII terminal for use with the
Console Port Interface feature. You can order the following cables from Milgo to make
this connection:

• Cable Part No. 5956-182B - 10-pin plug to 9-pin female connector

• Cable Part No. 5956-173T - 10-pin plug to 25-pin female connector

Plug the 10-pin plug into the connector labeled

NMI

on the ISX 5312/5314’s rear panel

and plug the other end into a serial port on the PC or terminal. Cable diagrams are
provided in Appendix B.

When connecting to a terminal, configure the terminal’s parameters as follows:

Data bits = 8

Parity = None

Stop bits = 1

Connecting to the Ethernet 10BaseT Connector

The Excalibur ISX 5312/5314 provides an 8-pin connector labeled

10B-T

for connecting

to the LAN. Use a standard Ethernet 10BaseT cable to make this connection. Table 2-5
lists the pin and signal assignments for this connector.
