Troubleshooting and Test Functions

1100 Series FD Reference Manual

Procedure using an Agilent ChemStation

1

Assure that the FLD signal is signal 1 (in case you use an additional 
detector in the system). Otherwise wrong calculations are done.

2

Copy the method FLRAMTST.M to \HPCHEM\1\DATA\METHODS and the 
macro FLRAMTST.MAC to \HPCHEM\CORE.

3

Load the method (normally no changes are required).

4

Define in the 

Sample Information

 the file name and description.

5

Turn the pump on and flush with water for a few minutes to assure a clean 
flow cell.

6

Start  a blank run with a flow of 0.5 to 1 ml/min.

7

When the run is completed a report is displayed and the 

status line

 shows 

the 

“Raman signal/noise ratio = “ 

value (see 

Figure 49

) which should be 

>200 (with FLF board revision A) or >400 (with FLF board revision B and 
above).

To re-display the number, type 

LEO_FLD_EVALUATE_NOISE_TEST

 and 

press Enter.

N O T E

The method FLRAMTST.M and the macro FLRAMTST.MAC are part of the A.06.xx 
ChemStation software CD (\1100FLD\RAMAN\). 

N O T E

A.06.01 ChemStation CD only: Change the STOP TIME to 23 minutes. The 22-minutes stop 
time in the method will cause wrong Raman signal/noise ratio values!

N O T E

You may remove the flow cell and check for air bubbles. After re-inserting the cell, turn the 
lamp on.

N O T E

If the pre-run macro is no longer loaded, the Raman value shows different values. In this 
case re-load the pre-run macro.
