Button Functions
disconnected (on hook), the green LED is illuminated. All other controls for telephone line
channels are identical to that of normal radio channels.
Hook Flash (FLASH)
This button is found on telephone line channels only. It is used to send a hook flash to the
telephone system.
HOOK FLASH
is normally used to transfer a call to another telephone
extension.
Channel Test (CHAN/TEST)
Pressing this button causes all LEDs to flash for all channels that have failed or are not
present in the system. No LEDs flash if all programmed channels are operational.
Paging Functions
The Models 4018 and 4118 consoles have a built-in paging encoder. The following
features and buttons may therefore be present. In the following descriptions, the
abbreviation to the right of the feature is the name typically found on the button label.
Paging Keypad
The 16-key keypad is always present and is used for manual entry of paging codes. If the
console has been programmed to recognize more than one paging format, the first keypad
digit entered instructs the encoder which format is to be sent. The remaining digits
determine the page code within the format.
Instant Call
INSTANT CALL
allows a single button press to send preprogrammed paging sequences
over preprogrammed console channels. These buttons are typically labeled with the name
of the individuals or apparatus that are signaled by their programmed pages.
The LEDs next to each
INSTANT CALL
button are useful in determining the state of the
associated page, as shown in the following table.
