Operation
Putting a Call on Hold
Pressing the
ANSWER/HOLD
button while the telephone is off hook toggles the
telephone to the Hold mode. The telephone receive and transmit audio is blocked and all
radio audio is routed back to its normal destination. The console telephone remains off
hook but does not pass any audio. Press the
ANSWER/HOLD
button again to return the
telephone to the active mode (this can be done by any position).
Transferring a Call to Another Position
To allow another console position to acquire a telephone channel currently yours, put the
telephone into Hold mode. When the other position toggles that telephone channel out of
Hold mode, it will acquire and activate it, and lock out all other console positions
(including the original position) from that telephone.
Transmitting on a Radio Channel While the Phone is Active
Pressing any transmit button or external PTT switch while the console phone is active
temporarily places the phone in the Hold mode described above, reroute all the audio to
the radio channel, and initiate the radio transmit. When the transmit button is released, the
telephone returns to the active state with the Mic and Select audio switched back to it.
Note however, that during this radio transmit, the telephone channel cannot be acquired by
another console position.
Setting up a Phone Conference
When one telephone is active and a second telephone is taken off hook, the first telephone
is automatically put in the Hold mode. If the first telephone is returned to the active mode,
both telephones are active and the receive and transmit audio is routed to both telephones.
This can be repeated with as many additional telephones channels as are available. All
radio channel receive audio continues to be sent to the Unselect speaker as long as any
telephone is active.
Manual Paging on a Phone Channel
Any paging format can be sent over the phone by entering the page (including the leading
digit) on the numeric keypad before taking the phone off hook, taking the phone off hook
(by pressing the
ANSWER
button), and then pressing the
PAGE SEND
button. The
Rotary Pulse dial format is not available on the 4018/4118 Consoles.
Instant Call Paging on a Phone Channel
When an Instant Call page designates a specific telephone channel as the destination, the
following actions occur if the telephone is on hook.
The telephone is taken off hook.
The specified Key Up delay (if any) occurs.
