Operating Button-Based Consoles

All Mute (ALL MUTE)
Pressing this button causes all unselected channels to mute (be reduced in level). Pressing
this button again causes the mute to cancel, returning all channels to their previous audio
levels. However, if this mute has a time period programmed for it (optional), it eventually
cancels itself. The red LED of this button, as well as all unselected channels’ mute
buttons, is illuminated while
ALL MUTE
is invoked.
Simultaneous Select (SIMUL-SELECT)
The
SIMUL-SELECT
button allows selection of more than one channel at a time. To
perform this, press and hold the
SIMUL
-
SELECT
button, then with the other hand, press
the
SELECT
/
INSTANT
SELECT
buttons of the desired channels. When all of the
desired channels have been selected, release the
SIMUL
-
SELECT
button. Whenever
more than one channel is selected, the red LED on the
SIMUL-SELECT
button is
illuminated. To cancel the simultaneous selection, press the
SELECT/INSTANT
SELECT
button of a single desired channel.
Group Select (<name> SELECT)
A single press of the
GROUP SELECT
button selects a predefined set of channels. There
may be several
GROUP SELECT
buttons on a console. The
GROUP SELECT
button
is usually labeled with the name of the group it selects, such as
FIRE SELECT
or
POLICE SELECT
. While the group is selected, the red LED on the appropriate
GROUP
SELECT
button is illuminated. The group selection is canceled by pressing any channel’s
SELECT/INSTANT SELECT
button.
Group Instant Transmit (<name> XMIT)
A predefined group of channels may be simultaneously transmitted on by pressing and
holding a
GROUP INSTANT TRANSMIT
button. Doing this does not change the
current channel selections. While a
GROUP INSTANT TRANSMIT
button is pressed, its
red LED is illuminated. There may be several
GROUP INSTANT TRANSMIT
buttons
on a console. A
GROUP INSTANT TRANSMIT
button is usually labeled with the name
of the group it transmits on, such as
Fire Xmit
or
Police Xmit
or
APB
.
Patch Transmit (PATCH XMIT)
Pressing and holding this button transmits on all of the channels that are currently patched
on your console, even if multiple Patch Paths are set up. This button only functions when
there is no call activity on any of the patched channels.
Priority Transmit (PRI’TY XMIT)
This button operates like the
TRANSMIT
button but allows you to override any other
console transmitting on your selected channel. The
PRIORITY TRANSMIT
button only
functions on a supervisory console.
