Figure 40: MAP27 Received Call Indications
Responding to a Call
Once a call has been received, the user can transmit voice to the distant end radio by either
selecting the channel and using the selected channel Xmit button, by highlighting the
channel and using the Inst Xmit button, or (if a mouse is being used) placing the mouse
over the channel box and pressing the right mouse button. If RDPS “Go To Channel Beep”
is enabled, a beep is activated to inform the operator when the channel is ready for voice
transmission. The “BSY” indication activates, indicating that the transmitter is busy. The
receive active indication is removed during transmit.
Releasing the Xmit button (or right mouse button) clears the BSY indication, and the
receive active indication returns.
Terminating a Call
Pressing the Call Disconnect button terminates the call on the highlighted channel. The
channel box Call Progress area is blanked.
Receiving an Emergency Call
When receiving an emergency call, 5 beeps or continuous tone (set through RDPS) should
be heard through the audio panel; the channel box indicates the radio ID or alias as in a
normal voice call, but the ID is flashing and in red. The emergency tone may be
deactivated using “Alarm Ack” key and the display may be cleared by transmitting on the
channel receiving the emergency or activating the “Call Discon” key.
Receiving a Site-Wide Call
When a console channel is receiving a site-wide call and if the radio connected to the
channel supports site-wide call display, the channel icon displays “Sys Wide” indicating
that the channel is part of a site-wide call.
Receiving a Status Message
A radio in the field can send a status update to the dispatcher. The received status is
displayed in the Call Progress/Status area of the channel box, and the radio ID that sent the
status is displayed in the Radio ID area (see
). The status code can be aliased, as
shown below. The status aliasing table is configured using the RDPS program.
