Locking lever for limiting vertical movement
The locking lever is used to set the lower limit position of the suspension
arm. This prevents the surgical microscope from making contact with the
patient even if it is inadvertently lowered (see Page 45).
Position of the microscope with fundus imaging system
When using a wide-angle observation system (e.g., BIOM 3 from Oculus)
which is usually installed between the surgical microscope and the patient,
make sure that the patient is neither put at risk nor injured by the motorized
focusing system or the movement of the suspension system arm.
Only use accessories expressly certified by ZEISS for combination with the
surgical microscope described in this manual.
WARNING
Injury to the patient’s eye!
Incorrect operation of the fundus imaging system may cause injury to the
patient’s eye and impair image quality. Perform the following steps to avoid
this hazard:
•
Perform a focus reset.
•
With the fundus viewing system swung out of the beam path, always
position the microscope body in such a way that index dot (1) of the
microscope’s focus is in the middle of the upper triangle (2) of the marking.
•
Select a medium magnification (e.g., 1.0).
•
Lower the surgical microscope to the surgical field until the cornea of the
patient’s eye is in focus.
•
Turn the locking lever for limiting downward travel clockwise as far as it
will go; without any patients, check that the suspension arm cannot be
lowered any further.
•
It is vital that you read the Instructions for Use for the fundus imaging
system used (e.g., BIOM 3 from Oculus).
