Networking of ZEISS Microscopy Computers
ZEISS microscope computers can be networked. The main purpose of such networking is storage of image
data, faster processing, workspace economy and service.
Networking is not intended for experimental download of drivers, patches, OS system upgrades or untested
third party software. This will very likely harm the system installation.
Networking also requires a certain work discipline, especially when handling file transfer and internet access.
Any files, which might contain harmful code should not be transferred to a system computer. It is not
recommended to connect the system computers to the internet without protection.
It is recommended to operate the ZEISS microscope computers in a kind of shielded LAN or e.g. via VPN, and
to have only one or two (e.g. storage) computers connected to the internet.
These computer can handle download of service packs or remote access for the actual system computers.
Some third party software has been approved to run together with our ZEN software. Arivis is one of our
approved partners. Ask your local ZEISS imaging specialist for the current software partners of ZEISS.
