The base plate is inserted into the Piezo stage. The sample holder is than placed on top of the base plate
(Fig. 4). Both parts and both are held together by magnets (Fig. 3,
m
).
The sample holder is three-point mounted onto base plate via three screws (Fig. 3,
sx
,
sy
&
sz
) of the
sample holder resting in their corresponding supporting points (Fig. 3,
sxsp
,
sysp
&
szsp
The front-left side of both, the base plate and the sample holder is indicated by a red dot (Fig. 3,
rdsh
&
rdbp
).
It should be ensured that the stage insert is mounted into the Piezo stage in the correct orientation.
When changing samples it is sufficient to take out only the sample holder, which is most conveniently
done by pulling on the shafts of the upper and lower spring clamps (Fig. 3,
uss
&
lss
).
The strength of the magnets is weak enough that the sample holder detaches easily from the base plate
when pulled. When inserted back the sample holder will attach to the base plate via the magnets
(Fig. 3,
m
).
If Koehler illumination was adjusted, the condensor can reach so deep that it can collide with
the screws and upper spring shaft (Fig. 3,
sx
,
sy
&
uss
) when the full travel range of the
motorized microscope stage is used. Care should therefore be exerted in this case by restricting
the travel range. If Koehler illumination is not required it is recommended to move the
condenser to the up position to avoid potential collisions.
