Comments on Data Management
To achieve the specified performance of the system, the Streaming option in the Streaming tool window
has to be active. Please ensure the following for the drive you will be streaming your data onto:
−
If you have no storage and analysis PC, use the D: or S: drive from your PC for system control.
Using the C: drive will lead to an unstable system.
−
If you have a storage and analysis PC: Ensure that you are using the 10 GbE network cable or fiber
to connect the PC for system control to the storage and analysis PC. Ensure that the drive of the
storage and analysis PC is mapped to the PC for system control. This will happen automatically
when the storage and analysis PC is booted before the PC for system control is turned on.
While streaming data (experiments) onto the storage and analysis PC, do not try to remove or load
any other data from or to the storage and analysis PC. It will slow down the data stream from the
PC for system control and will influence the acquisition speed of the experiment.
Do not use the network of your institute or laboratory to stream data to the storage and analysis
PC. Most likely, data transfer will be too slow and will jeopardize your experiment and will lead to
an unstable system.
Do not use any USB devices (external hard drives) to stream onto; data transfer will be too slow.
Do not exchange single Raid elements of your storage and analysis PC. The system is designed to
function as one unit. To remove already saved data from your storage and analysis PC (not during
data acquisition), you can use USB devices (external hard drives) with USB connections; internal
network connections, and the 10 GbE network connection.

Auto Save tool
If the
Auto Save
checkbox is activated the
Auto Save
tool is available (Fig. 247).
Images that are acquired by clicking the
Start Experiment
can be automatically
written to the hard disc, so that when image
acquisition is disrupted, the data up to the
disruption point will be available.
If data should be automatically saved, the
Auto Save
check box has to be ticked. A
directory, to which the file will be saved, has
to be specified in the
Directory
field. You
can specify the directory by clicking the
…
button in the Windows Explorer.
The selected directory will be displayed in the
Directory
display field. The name of the file
has to be typed into the
File Name
display
box. The image series will then be saved with
this file name (or name of the sub-directory)
extended by the exact date and time of the
image acquisition.
