After acquisition, the grey dynamics of the image are automatically linearized (see description above) to
match the range of the output display. This step visibly intensifies weak signals (Fig. 289).
Unlike the
Sampling
method, the
Illumination
method of HDR still provides a linear grey stepping
which allows quantitative measurements. For the acquisition step with increased laser power, those
regions of the image are excluded from exposures when no reasonable data can be obtained with any
higher laser power.
