Make sure the setting for one side is the same as the set-
ting for the other.
NOTE
Additional adjustment is possible by chang-
ing the shock spring. Contact a
dealership for a shock spring with a differ-
ent spring pressure rating.
Front Suspension Spring Preload
The front suspension shock absorber spring is provided
with a threaded adjusting nut to adjust spring preload. The
spring pressure can be changed by turning the nut on the
shock absorber body. Rotate the nut toward the spring to
increase spring pressure. Changes may be necessary to
provide the best handling. Make sure both sides are ad-
justed to the same setting.
WARNING
The shock absorber is charged with nitro-
gen gas under high pressure. Do not attempt
any service on the shock absorber. Do not
expose the shock absorber to high heat or
flames.

Front Shock Absorber Damping
Shock absorber damping is adjustable on the front
shock absorbers used on model To change
damping, rotate the adjusting knob (Figure 56). The stan-
dard setting is seven clicks out. Turning the knob in in-
creases damping pressure. The minimum setting (hard) is
one click out; maximum setting (soft) is sixteen clicks out.
CA UTION
Position the adjusting knob between the
minimum (one click) and maximum (sixteen
click) setting. Do not position the adjusting
knob outside the minimum or maximum set-
tings.
Rear Suspension Spring Adjustments
Spring preload
The springs for the rear suspension are on the front
shock absorber (Figure 57) and the rear shock absorber
(Figure 58). The spring pressure can be changed by turn-
ing the collar on the shock absorber body. Rotate the col-
lar toward the spring to increase spring pressure.
Springs with different spring pressure ratings are avail-
able on some models. Consult with a dealership.
The springs for the rear suspension are on the front
shock absorber and the rear shock absorber. The spring

nut on the shock absorber body. Rotate the nut toward the
spring to increase spring pressure. Springs with different
