2. Clean
snow and dirt from the track and suspension.
3. Attach a spring scale to the track at approximately the
middle of the track slider
(Figure
Pull scale de-
flect the track away from the slider shoe until a force 10
kg. (22 is indicated by the scale.

Measure the distance the slider shoe and the
inside of the track. Specified track deflection is 25-30
1.18 in.
If
the measured deflection incorrect, adjust track ten-
sion as follows:
It not necessary to remove the cotter pin
from the rear when loosening the
nut.
a. Loosen the rear (Figure
b. both adjusters (Figure 21) in or out exactly the
same amount to adjust the track tension.
Tighten the axle nuts securely.
d. Recheck the adjustment as described in Step 3 and
Step 4.
6. Check track as follows after setting the track
tension.
Track alignment is related to track tension and should
be checked and adjusted when the tension is checked and
adjusted. the track is misaligned, the rear idler wheels,
drive sprocket lugs and track lugs wear Be-
cause of resistance between the track and the sides the
wheels, performance will be greatly reduced.
Adjust track tension as described in this chapter.

2. Position the machine on its skis so the ski tips are
against a wall or other barrier. Elevate and
support the machine so the track is completely clear of the
ground and free to rotate.
