Attach a puller as shown in Figure 70, then use the
puller to remove the bearing assemblies.
After removing the outer bearing, remove the oil
seal and spacer.
d. Remove the inner bearing.
NOTE
Two
different bearings are
used at the
end of the crankshaft. When purchasing the
replacement
have
the parts
ager
identify
each bearing and its position
on the crankshaft.
It is critical to properly
install the bearings.
5.
Install the roller bearing at the flywheel end of the
crankshaft as follows:
a. Clean the crankshaft main journal, then coat the
journal with engine oil.
b.
Lubricate the bearing with engine oil.
c. Note the three holes
in the roller bearing. The blind
hole (A, Figure 71)
that stops before going through
the bearing race receives the locating dowel pin in
the crankcase. The holes
