NOTE
The sliding sheave half is shown removed,
however, secondary sheave disassembly is
not required.
c. Remove the sliding sheave half positioning bolts
(Figure
16) and shim washers.
d. Add or remove shim washers as needed to obtain
correct drive belt height. Add shim washers to raise
the drive belt height.
e. Tighten the bolts to 10
(88 in.-lb.).
f. Reinstall the secondary sheave. Recheck drive belt
height.
Drive Belt Alignment
The
gauges listed in the following procedure or
their equivalents are required to accurately adjust the
sheave distance, offset and parallelism (Figure 17). These
dimensions must be correctly maintained for good clutch
performance and long belt life.
1. Remove the drive belt as described in this chapter.
2. Measure the distance between the sheaves with the dis-
tance measuring gauge (YS-9 1047-3) as shown in Figure
18. Refer to Table 3 for the correct sheave
ter distance. If the distance is correct, proceed to Step 4
and measure the sheave offset. If the sheave distance is in-
correct, perform Step
3.
3. Adjust the sheave center-to-center distance as follows:
a. Loosen the front and rear engine mounting bolts
(Figure 19 and Figure 20). See Chapter Four.
b. Reposition the engine so the sheave center distance
is within the specifications listed in Table 3.
c. Tighten the engine mounting bolts and remeasure
the sheave distance. Refer to Chapter Four for en-
gine mount torque specifications.
4. Measure the sheave offset using the proper
gauge, or a suitable equivalent. Two gauges are available.
Refer to Table 3 and note the correct offset specification.
