and replace if necessary. Reverse to assemble the
tensioner.
Installation
Refer to Figure 1.
1.
Install the spacers onto the jackshaft and front axle
(Figure 6).
2.
Install the chain and sprockets. The necked side of the
driven sprocket (Figure 7) must contact the spacer on the
front axle.
3.
Install the drive sprocket nut (A, Figure 5)
and washer.
4.
Apply 242 (blue) to the driven sprocket bolt

5. Have an assistant apply the hydraulic brake. Tighten

Install the chain tensioner (Figure 4).
7. Install the gasket and chaincase cover (Figure 3) onto
the chaincase. Make sure the rubber gasket properly fits
on the chaincase.
Install the chaincase cover bolts and tighten them to 24

Fill the chaincase with oil as described in Chapter
Three.
