Track and
Rear
Suspension
All models are equipped with a slide rail rear suspen-
sion. Refer to Chapter Three to adjust the rear suspension.
Torque specifications are in Table 1.
Refer to Chapter Three for information concerning rear
suspension adjustment.
REAR SUSPENSION
Removal
NOTE
Be aware that considerable force is required
to reinstall the rear suspension, which may
require the assistance of two or more peo-
ple.
Loosen the nuts (Figure 1) on the track adjusting bolt
to relieve track tension.

Remove the plugs (Figure 2) on each side.
NOTE
Note the location of any washers or spacers
when removing the bolts
in Step 3.
NOTE
Several mounting holes may be located in
the snowmobile tunnel. The upper, rear
mounting plate or axle may be secured by
a
single bolt or by three bolts (Figure 3).
Where multiple holes are present, mark the
original location with a marker or paint to
facilitate assembly.
Remove the bolts (Figure 3) on each side securing the
rear suspension assembly to the tunnel.
NOTE
Before the snowmobile on its side in
Step 4, place a large piece of cardboard next
to
the
to protect
it
from body
damage. Also, plug any fluid container or
vent hose to prevent leakage.
4. Tip the snowmobile on its side, then lift the suspension
assembly from the track. See Figure 4.
5. To reinstall the rear suspension and track assembly, re-
verse the removal procedure while noting the following:
a. Make sure the track tension adjustment bolts are
completely loosened.
b. Install the front retaining bolts first, then install the
rear retaining bolts.
NOTE
Use considerable force to move the center
bracket assembly into place in order to in-
stall the center bolts.
Install the center retaining bolts.
Tighten the front and center mounting bolts to
