Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 81
Installing a New DataPac
1. If this is a replacement DataPac, make sure it is the same type as the failed DataPac.
2. If a second DataPac is being installed in a single DataPac system, remove the filler:
a. Loosen the two captive screws securing the latch handle of the filler. The filler does
not contain an active locking mechanism.
b. Open the latch handle fully.
c. Remove the filler.
3. Open the latch handle of the DataPac. The red LED is lit when the MRC can be released.
4. Insert the DataPac fully into the chassis and close its latch handle to seat it.
5. Tighten the latch handle screws finger tight, being careful not to overtighten them. If the
screws are not tightened to engage the locking mechanism, an error message appears in
ICON Manager.
6. If not already installed, download and install ActiveTcl
from http://support.xiotech.com.
7. Download ise_add_datapac from http://support.xiotech.com and extract the files from the zip
file.
8. Use a 9-pin null modem cable to connect the computer with the downloaded files to the serial
port on the back of the ISE.
9. Run
ise_add_datapac.bat <dsc_id> <ip_address> <com_port>
For example: ise_add_datapac.bat 100116 172.20.1.2 1
For a replacement DataPac, use the same IP address you used in step 5 on page 78. If this is
a DataPac addition, see the Emprise 7000 Configuration Guide at http://support.xiotech.com
for the IP address to use.
10. Label the ISE Volumes as Mirrored (M) or Standard (S) to match the ISE volume
configuration of the failed DataPac. The ISE volumes labels were noted in step 3 on page 78.
In the Physical View of ICON Manager, select the ISE and select
Change ISE Volume Tag
from the Actions pane. Select the ISE volumes you want to label and select the label.
11. For a replacement DataPac, restripe data to the new DataPac. In the Storage View of ICON
Manager, select each virtual disk (noted in step 2 on page 78) and select
Restripe Virtual
Disk
from the Actions pane. In the Restripe Virtual Disk window, select a virtual disk template
that includes the replacement DataPac. The replacement DataPac will be included
automatically in all virtual disk templates that included the failed DataPac.
Note:
The add_ise_datapac script may take up to 30 minutes to complete. It may
appear to stall during the process, but this is normal.
