Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 34
Installing Storage-Side FCICs or NICs into the System
Controller(s)
The proper number of storage-side FCICs are already installed in the system controller. You must
install the host-side interface cards before rack mounting the controller. The controller is shipped
with FCICs for fibre channel communications. The controller may also be shipped with a NIC for
iSCSI communications, depending on customer specifications.
1. Remove the packaging from the card.
2. If necessary, swap the full-height bracket with the low profile bracket provided (for NICs and
4GB FCICs).
3. In the system controller, remove the PCI cover plates from the slots indicated in the table and
diagram below. Retain the screws.
4. Insert the card into the appropriate slot. Push the card down firmly to make sure that it is
properly seated and insert the screw that you removed from the PCI cover plate.
5. Replace the controller cover and the screw that secures it.

Note:
If you installed a NIC, the customer must configure the Emprise for iSCSI. First,
complete the installation procedures in chapters 2 - 4 of this manual. Then
have the customer complete iSCSI Configuration in ICON Manager, as
described in the ICON Manager User Guide or online help.
