Replacing a Managed Reliability Controller (MRC)
An MRC can be replaced while the ISE is online and performing data I/O
.
If an MRC is not oper-
ational or absent, the remaining MRC performs all I/O operations.
Detecting a Failed MRC
To determine whether the MRC needs to be replaced, check the following:
•
In the Physical View in ICON Manager, the MRC has a status of Critical or Non-
Operational
•
Logs in ICON Manager
Caution:
Quiescing the MRC with the Remove MRC CLI function before
physically removing it is the preferred removal method, as documented
in this section. If you remove an MRC without first quiescing its
operation, any data in the cache of an MRC is lost because the MRC is
disconnected from the power source to maintain cache.
Caution:
Do not replace both MRCs at the same time while the ISE is powered
off. Doing so may cause an MRC firmware mismatch or invalid
configuration. If both MRCs must be replaced, complete this procedure
for one MRC. Then repeat this procedure for the second MRC.
If you do get a firmware mismatch, you will need to perform a firmware
upgrade (see page 110).
