Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 109
Shutting Down the ISE
Shutting down the ISE causes the Emprise 7000 to lose connectivity to the ISE. The following
functions are performed:
•
Complete all in-progress I/O commands from all hosts
•
Flush all data from cache
•
Disable batteries from powering cache
•
Prepare internal processes to gracefully shut down
•
Shut down both MRCs and remain off
All configuration settings are retained. Connection to the ISE through the ISE’s CLI is terminated.
Table 6-3 on the previous page describes the difference between restarting and shutting down
the ISE. To re-activate the ISE after shutdown, toggle the power switches on the ISE power sup-
plies off and then on again, ensuring that the switches on both supplies are in the
OFF
position
simultaneously for five seconds.
When re-activation is complete, the ISE again allows connection from a remote console.
To shut the ISE down from the ISE’s CLI:
1. Type
shutdown
.
2. Press
y
or
n
in response to the question
System shutdown requested. Are you sure?
.
3. In some conditions, the system may reject the shutdown command and display an
informational message explaining the rejection. To override the rejection, re-issue the
command with the
--force
option in the command line (
shutdown --force
).
