Returning a System Controller to its Initial State
1. Use the controller serial cable to connect a computer running a terminal emulator (e.g.,
HyperTerminal) to the rear of the controller.
2. Press Enter to open the serial console.
3. Select
C
for controller setup. If the controller has a configuration on it, a warning message
appears.
4. Type
z
(zero controller). A message warns you that the command can cause data loss if
misused.
5. When prompted with "Abort this function?", type
n
. The following message displays:
WARNING: THIS WILL COMPLETELY CLEAR THE CONTROLLER AND WILL CAUSE THE
LOSS OF CONNECTIVITY TO THE ICON AND OTHER CONTROLLERS.
THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE.
DO YOU WANT TO ZERO THE CONTROLLER INFORMATION?
6. To continue, type
y
. Status messages inform you that the controller is being zeroed. The
system will be reset.
7. Power down the controller by pushing the power off button for 4 seconds. Wait 30 seconds
before powering the controller back on.
8. Power the controllers up and down.
Caution:
This procedure must be performed by Xiotech-certified personnel. Call Xiotech
Customer Service for assistance (1.800.734.4716).
Caution:
This procedure clears the controller completely, causing the loss of data and
the loss of connectivity to the ICON and other controllers. Use this procedure
only when the controller configuration will not complete during initial
installation. This procedure returns a controller to its initial state, allowing you to
start over with its configuration.
