Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 32
Verifying that the Air Deflector and Cards are Seated
Properly
The air deflector and interface cards may have shifted or become unseated during shipment. It is
important to verify that they are installed properly before proceeding.
1. Put on the anti-static wrist strap and attach it to a grounded surface such as the system
controller chassis. Keep the wrist strap on for the remainder of this procedure.
2. Place the system controller on an ESD-safe surface.
3. To remove the controller cover, remove the cover screw on the right side of the chassis.
Press the release tabs to release the cover from its locking position. Ensure the tabs are fully
released before sliding the cover off.
4. Verify that the plastic air deflector shield is properly positioned over the CPU heatsink.
5. Reseat the FC or iSCSI interface cards. They occupy slots 2 through 5, depending on the
quantity installed. Remove the screws securing these boards into the chassis. Fully remove
and reseat the boards into the motherboard connectors. Reinstall the mounting screws to
secure the boards into the chassis.

6. Reseat the micromemory board in slot 1. Remove the screw securing the board into the
chassis. Fully remove and reseat the board into the motherboard connector. Reinstall the
mounting screw to secure the board into the chassis.
Note:
Initial shipments of the Emprise 7000 system will have a Model 4000 controller,
which varies slightly from the 7000 controller shown below. However, the
process for both controllers is the same.
