– Apply thin bead of sealant -arrows- from below into both cor‐

ners between cylinder head gasket and cylinder block, so that

holes in cylinder head gasket are filled.

– Check if dowel sleeves for cover are inserted in the cylinder

block.

– Apply sealant - D 176 501 A1- as shown and fit the cover.

Note

Install the timing chain cover within 5 minutes after sealant has

been applied.

– Tighten bolts in 3 stages as follows:
A - Pre-tighten bolts -1- to 5 Nm.
B - Tighten bolts -2- to 23 Nm.
C - Tighten bolts -1- to 10 Nm.
– Install crankshaft oil seal

– Install sump

– Install flywheel

– Install gearbox ⇒ Rep. gr. 34 ; Removing and installing gear‐

box .
