Why Am I Not Receiving Email Notifications?
Using the Web console left navigation menu, go to Administration > Notification
Settings and verify that the information is complete and correct.
Why Is Traffic Not Passing Through the Device When the Power Is
Off?
It is possible that the DC OFF LAN Bypass setting in the BIOS is disabled. To
enable DC OFF LAN Bypass , prepare a computer with terminal communications
software such as HyperTerminal. Connect the computer to the device. Reboot the
device and, during the initialization process, enter the BIOS configuration by pressing
the
D
ELETE
key. Enable DC OFF LAN Bypass. Doing so will allow traffic to pass
through the device when there is no direct current. By default, both DC ON LAN
Bypass and DC OFF LAN Bypass are enabled.
Why Does the Quarantine Action Fail?
There are three (3) situations that will cause the quarantine action to fail:
• The number of quarantined messages exceeds 1,000,000
• The message that is being quarantined is larger than 100MB
• The total size of all quarantined messages is larger than 16GB
The InterScan Gateway Security Appliance will apply the pass action if the
quarantine action fails.
Recovering a Password
How Can I Recover a Lost or Forgotten Password?
There is currently no way to recover a lost or forgotten password without reinstalling
the InterScan Gateway Security Appliance “image” to a previous configuration—one
in which the password was known. This may be done:
• From a backup
• By restoring the default configuration, which eliminates all user-customized
settings and returns the password to “admin”.
Administrators are therefore encouraged to periodically back up the device
configuration.
