To select OPS – Notification(s):
1. From the left-side menu, click Outbreak Defense > Settings.
2. Click the Notification tab.
3. Select one or more of the following options:
• New OPP is available for Red Alert Viruses
• New OPP is available for Yellow Alert Viruses
• OPP Alert expires
4. Click Save .
Red Alerts
Trend Micro issues a Red Alert when it receives several reports of virus and malware
detection incidents in a short amount of time—that is, the threat is widespread. The
reports usually describe a virus or malware threat that is actively circulating on the
Internet and spreading to mail servers and computers on local networks. Red Alerts
trigger the Trend Micro 45-minute Red Alert solution process. This process includes
deploying an official pattern release (OPR) and notifying designated computer secu-
rity professionals, repressing all other notifications to conserve bandwidth, and post-
ing fix tools and information regarding vulnerabilities to the Trend Micro download
pages. Red Alerts can trigger Outbreak Defense.
Yellow Alerts
Trend Micro issues a Yellow Alert when a threat has been detected “in the wild,” but
it is not widespread. TrendLabs then creates and pushes down to deployment servers
an official pattern release (OPR). InterScan Gateway Security Appliance can then
download the OPR from the deployment servers. Yellow Alerts can trigger Outbreak
Defense.
